BY MORTGAGE ORIGINATOR MAGAZINE


New York, NY, April 21, 2009 – Norman Calvo, president and CEO of New York City-based Universal Mortgage was recognized as one of the top 200 loan originators in the United States by Mortgage Originator Magazine. Calvo ranked 50 out of the top 200 in loan volume and 165 in the total amount of loans closed.

According to the editors of Mortgage Originator Magazine, 2008 was another difficult year in the ongoing lending industry/economic slump. However, the challenging conditions didn’t prevent the nation’s major producers from succeeding, according to Mortgage Originator’s 2009 Top 200 Originator ranking.

The 13th annual list acknowledges loan originators from throughout the country, appearing in the Top 200 loans/volume and FHA/VA originator categories. A loan originator had to personally close at least $30 million and/or 175 loans of personal, residential volume in 2008 to meet the criteria for this award.

Calvo has been involved in the mortgage business for over 27 years, founding Universal Mortgage in 1991. He has grown the company to be one of New York’s finest and largest mortgage brokerages.
